Choir level placement is based on musical growth, readiness, and director recommendation.

 Located in the South Denver Metro Area, near I-25 and Dry Creek,
Young Voices of Colorado offers programs for grades K-12 and all experience levels.

Training Choirs

TrebleMakers

A joyful first step into the world of singing, where young musicians explore, imagine, and discover the magic of music in a warm and encouraging environment.

 Incoming singers should:

  • Be a rising 2nd Grader (at least) who loves to sing!
  • Echo-sing a simple melody
  • Echo simple rhythms (ta & ti-ti)

During rehearsals we focus on:

  • Singing with a beautiful sound
  • Singing with precise intonation (in tune)
  • Improving vocal technique
  • Learning to read notes, rhythms and musical patterns in solfege
  • Performance etiquette

Performances include:

  • Winter Concert (December)
  • Spring Concert (May)
  • School Tour (One day in the spring or winter)
  • Occasional Community Concerts

Tuition:
$875 for the full season

We are committed to making YVC accessible to as many families as possible.

A limited amount of financial assistance is available each season based on demonstrated need and available funding.

Rehearsals:
Option 1: Mondays, 4:30-5:45 pm
Option 2: Thursdays, 4:30-5:45 pm

Crescendo

A place where independence begins to shine. Singers stretch musically, take on new challenges, and start to find their unique voice within the ensemble.

Incoming singers should:

  • Be a rising 4th grader AND have sung in TrebleMakers for 3 semesters

OR

  • Be a rising 5th or 6th grader and meet the musical benchmarks for Crescendo
  • Match pitch in echo patterns
  • Sing a solfege sequence unaided
  • Identify musical elements in a score and follow their part
  • Read basic rhythms (quarter note/rest, eighth note pair, half note
  • Read simple solfege patterns using mi, sol, and la

During rehearsals we focus on:

  • Producing a beautiful sound
  • Singing with precise intonation (in-tune)
  • Improving vocal technique
  • Sight-reading in solfeggi in various keys within one octave
  • Part-singing in two parts
  • Performance etiquette
  • Cooperative participation in the ensemble

Performances may include:

  • Winter Concert (December)
  • Spring Concert (May)
  • School Tour (One day in the spring)
  • Occasional Community Concerts

$1075 for the full season

A limited number of partial tuition scholarships based on financial need are offered. Payment plans can be set up.

Nova Voce (previously PriorityMale)

A supportive and engaging space where young singers build confidence, navigate changing voices, and discover the strength and camaraderie of singing together.

Incoming singers should:

  •  Be a rising 4th grader AND has sung in TrebleMakers for 3 semesters

OR

  • Be a rising 5th grader (at least) and meet the musical benchmarks for PriorityMale
  • Have a voice that is still unchanged, but will go through a voice change
  • Match pitch in echo patterns
  • Sing a solfege sequence unaided
  • Identify musical elements in a score and follow their part
  • Read basic rhythms (quarter note/rest, eighth note pair, half note
  • Read simple solfege patterns using mi, sol, and la

During rehearsals we focus on:

  • Producing a beautiful sound
  • Singing with precise intonation (in-tune)
  • Improving vocal technique
  • Sight-reading in solfeggi in various keys within one octave
  • Part-singing in two parts
  • Performance etiquette

Advanced Choirs

Cantabella

Expressive, collaborative, and artistically driven—these singers refine their sound while growing as confident performers and leaders.

Incoming singers should:

  • Be a rising 6th grader AND have sung in Crescendo for 3 semesters

OR

  • Be a rising 7th grader (at least) and meet the musical benchmarks for Cantabella
  • Match pitch in echo patterns
  • Sing in canon with another person
  • Identify and sing the lowest, middle, and highest note of a chord played on the piano
  • Sing sequence 2, 3, or 4 unaided
  • Identify key signatures with up to 3 sharps and 3 flats
  • Sightread a simple melody between do and sol using step-wise motion
  • Read rhythms including quarter note/rest, eighth note, sixteenth note, dotted half note, and half note/rest

During rehearsals we focus on:

  • Producing a beautiful pure sound with proper breath support
  • Singing with precise intonation (in-tune) in four our more parts
  • Improving vocal technique
  • Nuances of blend and balance
  • Sight-reading in solfege in various keys, with some accidentals
  • Part-singing in two to four parts or more
  • Performance etiquette
  • Independent musicianship, including “homework” learning new music
  • Musical leadership within the ensemble
  • Musical and community leadership for Sing A Mile High
  • Becoming a unified group in musical sound and in spirit

Performances may include:

  • Winter Concert (December)
  • Spring Concert (May)
  • School Tour (One day in the spring)
  • Special concerts
  • Guest appearances
  • Honor choirs
  • Sing A Mile High International Children’s Choral Festival

Tuition:
$1650 for the full season

Tuition includes Sing A Mile High (stay at home package) and our fall and spring camps. Singers may pay an additional $450 and stay on campus (if space is available) for Sing A Mile High.

A limited number of partial tuition scholarships based on financial need are offered. Payment plans can be set up.

Rehearsals:
Thursdays, 5:00-7:00 pm

Auditions:
Auditions are held throughout the year for experienced singers new to YVC.

Vox Anima Winter Concert 2019

Vocalis (Formerly VoiceMale)

Focused, energetic, and connected, this ensemble supports singers with changed tenor and bass voices through vocal development, confidence-building, and a strong sense of community and shared purpose.

Incoming singers should:

  • Comfortably sing in the Tenor or Bass range
  • Desire to further develop singing and sight-reading skills
  • Match pitch in echo patterns
  • Identify and sing the lowest, middle, and highest note of a chord played on the piano
  • Sing in canon with another person
  • Identify key signatures with up to 3 flats and 3 sharps
  • Commit to group rehearsals and performances

During rehearsals we focus on:

  • Changed-voice singing in an expanded vocal range
  • Small group techniques requiring more independent singing

Performances may include:

  • Winter Concert (December)
  • Spring Concert (May)
  • School Tour (One day in the spring)
  • Leadership in the YVC BoyChoir Projects
  • Special invitations for collaborations
  • Sing A Mile High (if able to sing in treble voice and learn festival music)
  • National Tour

Tuition:
$1650 for the full season

Tuition includes Sing A Mile High (stay at home package) and our fall and spring camps. Singers may pay an additional $450 and stay on campus (if space is available) for Sing A Mile High.

A limited number of partial tuition scholarships based on financial need are offered. Payment plans can be set up.

Rehearsals:
Mondays, 5:00-7:00 pm

Auditions:
Auditions are held in spring and summer for experienced singers new to YVC.

 

Signature

Committed, inspiring, and deeply connected, these singers lead by example, performing at the highest level while helping shape the culture and community of YVC.

To gain admission to Signature, singers must exceed requirement for Cantabella with the following additions:

  • Singer is at least a rising 8th grader AND has sung in Cantabella for 3 semesters

         OR

  • Singer is a rising 9th grader and meets the musical benchmarks for Signature
  • Singer is able to sing with good intonation in echo patterns
  • Singer can identify and sing the lowest, middle, and highest note of a chord played on the piano
  • Singer is able to sing their part of a learned choir piece independently
  • Singer is able to sing sequence 3 or 4 in canon with another person
  • Singer is able to sightread a melody spanning at least a sixth, using rhythms including quarter note/rest, eighth note, sixteenth note, half note/rest, and dotted quarter note
  • Singer is able to identify major key signatures
  • Singer has passed the Level 1 Theory Exam

Performances may include:

  • Winter Concert (December)
  • Spring Concert (May)
  • School Tour (One day in the spring)
  • Special invitations for collaborations
  • Sing A Mile High
  • National Tour

$1645 for the full season

Tuition includes Sing A Mile High (stay at home package) and our fall and spring camps. Singers may pay an additional $450 and stay on campus (if space is available) for Sing A Mile High.
